A few weeks ago in class, I explained fall foliage to my students by showing them the changing leaves and rolling multicolored hills and mountains of Virginia. The next weekend a friend of mine and I took a trip to the Dohuk region of Iraq and experienced autumn, Iraqi Kurdistan style.
